A man who used ketamine to incapacitate and sexually assault two women has been sentenced to 18 years in prison, being described as a monster by the court.
Khamal Hussain targeted the women in separate incidents after inviting them to his residence. Despite being under investigation for the abuse of the first victim, Hussain proceeded to rape the second woman. The court revealed that the victims have suffered severe trauma, with one even contemplating suicide due to the harrowing experiences.
Acknowledging the courage of the victims, the judge praised them for preventing Hussain from harming other women. Hussain was deemed a significant threat to women, with a high likelihood of causing serious harm.
The first victim was unknowingly given ketamine by Hussain, which left her disoriented and vulnerable to his assaults. The second victim, who was intoxicated, was also drugged by Hussain before being sexually assaulted.
Hussain was found guilty of multiple charges, including rape and sexual assault. The court noted his history of violence and harassment but no prior sexual offenses.
In sentencing Hussain to 18 years in prison with an additional four-year extended license, the judge condemned his predatory behavior and manipulation of the victims. The judge commended the victims for their bravery in seeking justice and preventing further harm to other women.
Apart from the prison term, Hussain is required to register as a sex offender for life and was issued restraining orders against both victims. Despite claims by his defense attorney that presented a different perspective, Hussain’s actions were deemed heinous and irreparable.
