A teenage girl named Eden Bunn from Sutton Bridge has been identified as the victim in a tragic incident where a car plunged into a river near Wisbech in Cambridgeshire. The authorities are still searching for an 18-year-old man named Declan Berry from Wisbech, who is suspected to have been driving the vehicle, a blue VW Polo, at the time of the accident.
The crash occurred on the evening of Tuesday, March 17, when the car veered into the water at North Brink in Wisbech St Mary. Reports indicate that there were five teenagers in the car during the incident. Three of them managed to escape and were taken to the hospital. As of now, a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy have been discharged, while another 16-year-old girl remains hospitalized.
The families of both Eden and Declan have expressed their grief and paid tribute to them. Eden’s family described her as a kind and loving girl, emphasizing her passion for her horses, Daisy and Dolly. Declan’s family and friends have requested privacy during this difficult time.
DI Craig Wheeler of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit described the incident as truly devastating and extended sympathies to the loved ones of the victims. An investigation is underway, and witnesses or individuals with information about the blue VW Polo in the Wisbech area between 7 pm and 8:20 pm on the day of the accident are urged to contact the police.
Efforts to locate Declan are ongoing, with an increased police presence along the River Nene. Witnesses, anyone who saw the vehicle before the crash, or possesses dashcam footage related to the incident are encouraged to report it online or contact the authorities directly, referencing incident 515 of March 17.
