“Major Truck Collision Causes M3 Shutdown in Surrey”

Long delays are occurring on a heavily trafficked highway following a severe collision involving two large trucks. The M3 eastbound in Surrey is shut down between J3 Bagshot Interchange and J2 Thorpe Interchange on Thursday, March 19, causing traffic to come to a standstill.

In the aftermath of the crash, one of the trucks has collided with a gantry, while the other has suffered a damaged fuel tank, leading to a significant diesel spillage on the road.

Emergency responders, including Surrey Police, Surrey Fire and Rescue, South East Coast Ambulance Service, as well as National Highways traffic officers and contractors, are currently at the scene addressing the situation.

Motorway cameras reveal the severity of the lorry crash and fuel spill that have forced the closure of the M3, resulting in anticipated delays of around 30 minutes as per National Highways.

To navigate through the area, road users are advised by National Highways to follow the route indicated by a solid diamond symbol on road signs. Updates on the situation will continue to be provided as it unfolds.
