A tragic incident occurred on the A48 near Bonvilston in the Vale of Glamorgan, south-east Wales, last year resulting in the deaths of three individuals. The driver, Scott Jeffery, 34, and his passengers, Lawrence Howells, 51, and Barrie John, 48, lost their lives when Jeffery’s Ford Puma collided head-on with a lorry just before 5pm on April 1.
An inquest revealed that Scott Jeffery was under the influence of cocaine at the time of the crash, which was a contributing factor. The Pontypridd Coroner’s Court confirmed that Jeffery’s death was a consequence of a road traffic collision, with cocaine use playing a role in the tragic event.
Scott Jeffery, who resided in Brackla, Bridgend, and was unemployed, originally hailed from Pontypridd. Tributes were shared for Lawrence Howells from Porthcawl and Barrie John from Ferndale by their families and loved ones last year, as reported by Wales Online.
In a statement from South Wales Police, Barrie John’s family expressed their profound loss and shared cherished memories of him, highlighting his mischievous yet lively personality. Similarly, Lawrence Howells’ family requested privacy to mourn and honor his memory, acknowledging the devastating impact of the accident on their lives.
The heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the consequences of drug use and the lasting impact it can have on families and communities.
