Notorious former musician Gary Glitter, known for his crimes against children, is reportedly in poor health and nearing the end of his life according to prison sources. The 81-year-old, whose real name is Paul Gadd, is currently imprisoned at HMP Channings Wood in Devon. He has been described as nearly completely deaf, confined to a wheelchair, and unwilling to leave his cell.
Glitter was incarcerated in 2015 for offenses including sexual acts with a minor, attempted rape, and indecent assault. Despite being released briefly, he was sent back to prison in 2023 for breaching his parole conditions.
A source close to the situation shared with The Sun that Glitter’s physical condition is deteriorating rapidly, stating that he is barely mobile and unrecognizable to many. While denied parole due to a lack of remorse for his actions, there are concerns among both inmates and staff that he may not live much longer.
The source further mentioned that Glitter’s recent court appearance has added to his distress, and it is believed that he may spend the rest of his life behind bars if parole is not granted. Additionally, he is reportedly viewed as arrogant and unpopular among fellow prisoners.
Despite appealing for release in 2025, the Parole Board rejected his plea citing his enduring interest in children. The board highlighted that Glitter acknowledges he should remain incarcerated, as he still holds beliefs supportive of child abuse.
Previous rejections for parole in 2024 were based on assessments indicating his dangerous inclinations towards children. The parole board emphasized that releasing Glitter at present would pose a risk to public safety due to his unchanged predatory behavior.
