“Hot Air Balloon Crash Injures British Tourists in Mexico”

A frightening incident unfolded when a hot air balloon carrying British tourists crashed during a sightseeing tour over an archaeological site in Mexico. The balloon made contact with high-voltage power lines before plummeting onto a nearby football field.

The operator of the hot air balloon escaped unharmed, but the British couple onboard sustained serious injuries. The mishap occurred in San Lorenzo Tlamimilolpan, near Mexico City. The tourists, residents of London, were exploring the Teotihuacan pyramids from the air when the accident transpired.

Eyewitnesses described the sudden descent of the balloon, followed by a loud impact and cries for help. The woman was found injured inside the basket, while her partner exhibited signs of shock and injury. Prompt medical assistance was provided by locals until the couple was transferred to a nearby clinic for treatment.

Authorities are now investigating the cause of the crash, examining whether it resulted from human error or technical malfunction. Concerns were raised by residents about the proximity of hot air balloons to power lines in the area, urging preventive measures to avert potential tragedies. Mexico’s Federal Civil Aviation Agency confirmed the incident involving the balloon and stated that an administrative investigation is underway.

The agency reported that the aircraft, registered as XA-OZY and operated by Happy Puerto, came into contact with power lines, causing burns from an electric shock to the passengers. The injured individuals were taken to a hospital in Mexico City for further medical care.
