“Expert: Iran’s Threat of UK Missile Attack Currently Low”

Iran is said to possess a missile capable of reaching the UK, but experts believe the likelihood of such an attack is currently very low. Amid ongoing US and Israeli-led airstrikes in Iran, military historian Dr. Mark Felton discussed Iran’s missile capabilities. Following the assaults, Iran retaliated against its Gulf neighbors, causing oil prices to soar and tensions to escalate in Lebanon. Additionally, Iran has blocked the vital Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil transport.

Dr. Felton referred to a previous video where he examined a hypothetical scenario of Russia launching a non-nuclear attack on the UK using cruise missiles from aircraft and submarines. In a video on his YouTube channel, Mark Felton Productions, he detailed how such an assault could target critical British infrastructure and defense systems.

Notably, Dr. Felton emphasized that the UK lacks adequate defenses against potential attacks, highlighting the absence of a robust air defense system like Israel’s Iron Dome or surface-to-air missiles safeguarding key installations. He shifted focus to the escalating conflict with Iran and the concerning possibility of Iranian missiles targeting the UK, raising questions about the extent of the threat to Western Europe.

While Iran has reportedly limited the range of most of its ballistic missiles to around 2,000km, it possesses the Khorramshahr-4 missile with a maximum range of 3,000km. Dr. Felton explained how this missile could potentially reach Copenhagen, Denmark, but London remains out of range. He noted that Iran possesses other rockets capable of reaching the UK, primarily used in its space program but not modified for conventional warhead delivery.

Despite concerns about Iran’s space launch vehicles potentially leading to intercontinental ballistic missile capabilities, there is no concrete evidence of such developments. Dr. Felton highlighted Iran’s possession of long-range missiles like the Ghaem-100 and Simorgh but pointed out practical challenges Iran faces in ensuring accuracy and re-entry vehicle engineering for effective warhead delivery.

In conclusion, Dr. Felton stressed that Iran’s current lack of necessary systems for warhead deployment makes it technically infeasible for Iran to launch a missile attack on the UK at present.
