A notorious Japanese serial killer, Tsutomu Miyazaki, perpetrated horrifying crimes involving the brutal murder, sexual assault, and dismemberment of young children, leaving the nation in shock. Known as the ‘Otaku Murderer,’ Miyazaki engaged in disturbing acts of necrophilia and cannibalism, displaying no remorse for his heinous actions.
His upbringing in Tokyo was marred by severe trauma, with rumors suggesting he was born from an incestuous relationship, resulting in malformed hands that subjected him to constant ridicule. Miyazaki’s descent into darkness began at the age of 26 following the death of his beloved grandfather, an event believed to have pushed him over the edge.
In a macabre ritual, Miyazaki consumed some of his grandfather’s ashes after the funeral to feel closer to him while distancing himself from his family. His first victim, four-year-old Mari Konno, was abducted, strangled, and sexually abused before Miyazaki cruelly dismembered her body as a twisted keepsake.
Subsequently, he kidnapped and murdered other young girls, including Masami Yoshizawa and Erika Namba, showcasing his depravity by sending parcels containing remains and taunting messages to the victims’ families. His final victim, five-year-old Ayako Nomoto, suffered a gruesome fate as Miyazaki sexually violated and dismembered her body, even consuming her hands.
Miyazaki’s reign of terror came to an end in 1989 when he was caught photographing a young girl in the nude. Upon arrest, he showed no remorse, claiming to feel alone and seeing himself in the victims. During his trial, he refused to take responsibility for his actions, attributing them to an alter ego and attempting an insanity plea, which was rejected.
On June 17, 2008, Tsutomu Miyazaki was executed by hanging at the age of 45 for his horrific crimes, bringing closure to a dark chapter in Japan’s history.
