“Convicted Killer Turned Prison Cleaner: Constance Marten’s New Role Sparks Inmate Mockery”

Constance Marten, a convicted killer known for her role in the death of her newborn daughter, has reportedly taken up a new position while serving her jail sentence, drawing ridicule from fellow inmates at the facility.

Marten, who hails from a privileged background as the daughter of an aristocrat, and her partner Mark Gordon, were sentenced to 14 years in prison for the gross negligence manslaughter of their infant, following their decision to flee authorities. Prior to this incident, the couple had evaded social services involvement after having their previous four children placed in care.

Recently, Marten has secured employment at HMP Bronzefield, a well-known prison where other notorious inmates like Lucy Letby, a killer nurse, and Beinash Batool, convicted of Sara Sharif’s murder, are also housed. This development has led to Marten being given a somewhat ironic nickname by her peers.

According to reports, the former socialite is currently working as a unit cleaner within the prison located in Ashford, Surrey. Marten has allegedly faced mockery from fellow inmates due to her modestly paid role, estimated at £20 per week.

Her responsibilities involve cleaning and maintaining Unit 4 of the women’s prison. A source cited by The Sun described how Marten has been humorously labeled as “the poshest Mrs. Mop in the country” by the prison community.

The source elaborated on the situation, stating, “Constance’s job has become a source of amusement for many inmates, as they are aware of her affluent upbringing. They find it ironic that she, who once lived a life of luxury with staff catering to her needs, is now engaged in manual labor. Despite the teasing, the nicknames given to her like ‘Mrs. Mop’ and ‘Constance the cleaner’ are said to be light-hearted jests.” The source also mentioned Marten’s avoidance of other job opportunities within the prison, opting to maintain a low profile by staying in her cell whenever possible.

Constance Marten, born in 1986 to Napier and Virginie De Selliers, spent her early years on the expansive Crichel estate in Dorset. Her father, Napier, a former page to Queen Elizabeth II, relinquished his substantial inheritance and family to seek a simpler life in Australia in 1996, leaving Marten at a young age. Despite her affluent upbringing, Marten was later discovered living in vastly different circumstances, resorting to scavenging for food in bins after absconding with her partner and child.

The journey that led Marten to her current situation began in 2014 when she met Mark Gordon in a Tottenham store, eventually marrying in an unofficial ceremony in Peru that lacked recognition by the UK authorities.
