British Airways Halts Flights to Dubai Amid Middle East Unrest

British Airways has decided to halt all flights to Dubai until June due to ongoing attacks by Iran in the UAE. The airline also announced the cancellation of flights to Amman, Bahrain, Dubai, and Tel Aviv until May 31, along with flights to Doha until April 30. The spokesperson for British Airways cited the Middle East’s uncertain situation and airspace instability as reasons for the cancellations, aiming to provide clarity to their customers.

Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest airport for international passengers in 2025, served nearly 90 million travelers that year. December 2025 recorded the highest number of passengers in a single month at around 8.7 million, as reported by The Express. The airport connects passengers to 291 destinations in 110 different countries.

The UK Foreign Office currently advises caution or against non-essential travel to the UAE and other Gulf states due to regional tensions. Travelers in the UAE are urged to follow local authorities’ instructions, register with the UK government, and be alert to sudden security changes.

Despite being on the UK Foreign Office’s list of destinations to avoid, some travelers are still choosing to fly to Dubai, as mentioned by travel journalist Simon Calder on BBC Radio Scotland’s Breakfast program.
