A British individual was found deceased in a canal on a well-known vacation spot. CCTV footage captured the man pacing in front of a hotel before his body was located in a drainage ditch in Phuket, Thailand, as per local law enforcement.
A Burmese worker discovered the body close to Bang Tao Beach on the island’s north-west coast and promptly informed authorities. The British man, who was barefoot and dressed in a grey shirt and black trousers, had started to swell due to prolonged submersion. Initial examinations did not reveal any apparent signs of foul play.
Lieutenant Colonel Sutthirak Chuthong from Choeng Thale district police station confirmed the deceased’s British nationality. The hotel where the man had been lodging failed to reach him, and a search of his room uncovered no signs of forced entry or unusual circumstances.
Lieutenant Colonel Thongchai Matitham disclosed that a worker from Myanmar discovered the body on Saturday, March 14, while harvesting vegetables. The individual was found face down in a public drainage canal, with an iPhone 17 located nearby on the bank. No other possessions were recovered, and the man was not wearing shoes. A CoCo Hotel key card in his possession aided in his identification.
Records from the hotel indicated that he had checked in unaccompanied and was scheduled to check out on March 13 but never did. CCTV footage depicted him appearing agitated and pacing outside the hotel before departing the vicinity. His erratic movements ultimately led to the spot where his body was subsequently found.
Authorities believe the man had been deceased for a maximum of two days before the discovery. The case is actively being investigated, awaiting the official autopsy results from Vachira Phuket Hospital to determine the presence of any substances in his system. Release of the CCTV footage linked to the incident is pending.
