Anthony Joshua Honors Late Friends’ Mothers, Eyes Fury Showdown

Anthony Joshua kept his promise by dancing with the mothers of his two deceased close friends who were involved in a tragic car accident. Shortly after his knockout win against Jake Paul in December, Joshua was in a devastating car crash in Nigeria that claimed the lives of his strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami, and personal trainer, Latif “Latz” Ayodele.

Following the heartbreaking incident, the former two-time heavyweight champion pledged lifetime support to the families of his late friends. He honored his commitment by participating in a significant gathering dedicated to mothers over the weekend.

The 36-year-old was captured on video participating in the emotional Mother’s Day event. In a poignant speech during the gathering, Joshua expressed gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate mothers, brothers, and those present and absent. He specifically mentioned his friends and their mothers, acknowledging their influence on his life.

While still recovering from the crash, Joshua has resumed training and is expected to return to the ring later this summer. Speculation suggests a potential matchup with Dillian Whyte, with a much-anticipated showdown against Tyson Fury looming on the horizon.

According to boxing journalist Gareth A Davies, both Fury and Joshua have agreed to a showdown in the ring. Davies disclosed on talkSPORT that the fight is already confirmed behind the scenes and is likely to be broadcast on Netflix, possibly towards the end of the year or early next year.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, revealed that Joshua’s next fight is expected in late summer, ruling out an immediate clash with Tyson Fury. Hearn mentioned that Joshua’s physical condition is being closely monitored, with a return to the ring targeted for July, paving the way for a potential matchup with Fury at a later date.
