“Graham Norton Stands Up for Claudia Winkleman’s New Show”

Graham Norton has come forward to support Claudia Winkleman following criticism of her new BBC chat show as being dull. Known for her successful hosting roles on BBC shows like The Traitors and Strictly Come Dancing, Claudia’s debut program, The Claudia Winkleman Show, generated high expectations upon its recent premiere.

Featuring guests like Jeff Goldblum, Vanessa Williams, Jennifer Saunders, and Tom Allen in its first episode, the show received mixed reviews. Critic Richard Eden from The Mail described it as “mixed” and highlighted comments from reviewers using words such as “mess,” “mistake,” and “bore.”

In a review by The Telegraph’s Anita Singh, the show’s debut episode was criticized for having “first-night nerves” and being “a bit of a bore.” Notably, Jurassic Park actor Jeff Goldblum’s quirky anecdote about his “favorite pencil” and his description of BBC One’s Friday nights as “cosy but mundane” seemed to align with this perspective.

Graham Norton, whose own chat show airs on Friday nights, defended Claudia, emphasizing that her show should reflect her unique style and not imitate his. Despite some negative reviews, positive feedback also emerged, with varying star ratings and opinions on the show’s potential for improvement.

Additionally, a professional dancer from Strictly Come Dancing, Carlos Gu, shared admiration for Claudia Winkleman and former co-host Tess Daly, expressing his respect for their iconic status and unique qualities. Carlos praised Claudia’s wit and confidence, highlighting her self-assured nature as a powerful attribute.
