Known as the ‘Apollo Queen of Fashion,’ Kiki graced the stage with her presence during live performances by various musical acts.

TMZ reported that Kiki, originally named Chiquita Renee Shepard, tragically succumbed to a heart attack in Los Angeles on Monday. Her unexpected demise left fans and colleagues mourning her loss. Throughout her career, Kiki shared the stage with co-hosts like Sinbad, Mo’Nique, Mark Curry, Rudy Rush, and Rick Aviles. She also showcased her talent on Broadway in productions such as Bubbling Brown Sugar, Reggae, Your Arms Too Short to Box With God, and Porgy and Bess.

Having started as a professional dancer in the early 1970s, Kiki’s career flourished as she performed worldwide, including with the D.C. Repertory Dance Company. Her filmography includes notable titles like A Rage in Harlem, Miss Evers’ Boys, Dolls of Voodoo, and Blackjack Christmas. Born in Tyler, Texas, in July 1951, Kiki attended Emmett Scott High School before pursuing her education at Howard University, where she became a charter member of the D.C. Repertory Dance Company.

Following the news of her passing, fans expressed their condolences on social media, honoring Kiki’s legacy on Showtime at the Apollo.
