Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard has responded firmly to a fan’s suggestion that she should not be working while dealing with cancer. The 68-year-old actress revealed her breast cancer diagnosis in January, receiving the news just before filming her latest soap opera, Fair City. Following a significant operation the next month, Callard, known for her role as Liz McDonald, is set to appear in the upcoming series of I’m A Celeb South Africa, which was recorded last year and is set to air next month. In a recent video, she mentioned feeling drained after promoting the series in London.
Addressing concerns about returning to work too quickly, one fan questioned Callard’s decision, to which she simply replied, “I can’t not do anything, it’s good to keep busy.” At the I’m A Celeb launch event, she courageously expressed her defiance against cancer, stating, “F*** cancer!” and acknowledged feeling nervous but determined to be brave.
In a positive update, Callard shared her recent hospital visit experience, revealing that a second operation may not be necessary. She expressed her relief at the progress of her recovery, noting a reduction in swelling and the possibility of starting radiotherapy soon if confirmed cancer-free. Despite the uncertainties ahead, Callard remains optimistic about her health journey.
