During a visit to Manchester, the King showcased his DJ skills by joining Christian St Louis at an event organized to promote the initiatives of the King’s Trust. He enthusiastically attempted to seamlessly transition between songs, a technique known as “fading,” with a smile on his face despite finding it challenging, as acknowledged by an observer.
The monarch, engaged in various activities in Manchester and Warrington, started his day by interacting with students benefitting from a collaboration between The King’s Trust and Factory Academy. This collaboration focuses on the Creative Futures program, aiming to empower young individuals in the arts and creative industries.
The event also highlighted the partnership with The Elba Hope Foundation, founded by actor Idris Elba and his wife, Sabrina, to offer free courses inspiring youth across the United Kingdom. Over 100 local young people have already reaped the benefits of this program.
Christian, a participant in the program, shared his excitement about the course, expressing his aspirations in the music industry. The King, showing interest, inquired about Christian’s experience with the Trust, to which Christian responded positively, mentioning the opportunities it had provided him.
Impressed by Christian’s music selection, the King took a turn at the DJ station, playing a track and enjoying the experience. He later praised Christian’s skills and expressed his enjoyment of the activity, acknowledging the complexity of DJing.
The King also engaged with other students, witnessing their technical setups and even listening to a moving poem by Mariana Jallow. The day concluded with the King unveiling a plaque to commemorate his visit and enjoying a performance by a choir from the Royal Northern College of Music.
As a prominent youth opportunity charity, The King’s Trust, formerly known as The Prince’s Trust, has been instrumental in supporting young people from diverse backgrounds for over 50 years. Since its establishment in 1976, the Trust has empowered millions of young individuals in the UK, enabling them to develop essential skills for employment and personal growth.
With a remarkable track record, the Trust has successfully guided three in four supported individuals into work, education, or training within the last five years, showcasing its significant impact on the youth population.
