The ongoing feud between King Charles and his brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, has deepened, with insiders suggesting that the two may never appear together in public again. The rift intensified when the King offered full support to authorities investigating Andrew over alleged misconduct while in a public role.
Andrew was taken into custody following allegations that emerged after the disclosure of documents linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The accusations revolve around claims that Andrew shared confidential information with Epstein during his time as the UK’s trade envoy.
Due to Andrew’s longstanding connection with the disgraced financier, Charles had already revoked Andrew’s remaining royal titles in October and relocated him from the Royal Lodge in Windsor to a cottage on the Sandringham estate.
Despite Andrew’s denial of the allegations, Buckingham Palace stated that these actions were necessary, emphasizing their solidarity with abuse victims. Andrew spent about 11 hours in custody before being released pending further investigation. The estrangement between the brothers is said to be irreparable, with experts suggesting they may never be seen together publicly again.
The tension between Charles and Andrew predates the Epstein scandal, with deep-seated resentments on both sides. Andrew Lownie, author of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, highlighted the longstanding animosity, indicating that Andrew’s perceived preferential treatment had fueled the discord.
According to Robert Jobson, author of The Windsor Legacy: A Royal Dynasty of Secrets, Scandal and Survival, the King feels betrayed by revelations from the “Epstein files.” Publicly, the estrangement has been evident, with Charles and Andrew avoiding each other at recent public events.
The relationship between the brothers has deteriorated to the point where they have not been seen together since a past family event, with interactions being minimal and strained.
