Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, known for his fiery TV persona, leads a contrasting life away from the limelight. The 59-year-old chef resides in a leafy London suburb with his large family and multiple properties. Since 2002, Gordon and his wife Tana have made their home in Wandsworth, South London, purchasing an eight-bedroom property for £7 million as their family expanded, now comprising six children.
In recent years, Gordon’s townhouse has undergone significant renovations, which have recently been completed. According to Country and Town House, in 2021, he secured planning permission to transform the house by creating a spacious master suite with two ensuite bathrooms and a walk-in wardrobe by converting four existing bedrooms.
The renovation also included the addition of a new basement, a wine cellar, and a ground floor extension. During the construction period, the family temporarily relocated but moved back in by 2024, as reported by the Express. Initially, all eight bedrooms were essential as the Ramsay children were young, with Megan, 27, twins Holly and Jack, 26, Tilly, 24, Oscar, six, and Jesse James, two. Tilly appears to be the only child following in her father’s culinary footsteps, launching her cooking show, Dish It Out, in the previous year.
Wandsworth has attracted not only Gordon but also other celebrities like Keira Knightley, Louis Theroux, Sting, Sadiq Khan, and Bear Grylls. Acknowledged as the London Borough of Culture in 2025, Wandsworth is known for its diverse cultural offerings, cuisine, festivals, and arts, making it an appealing location for Gordon to immerse himself in the culinary world.
The average property value in Wandsworth is around £813,000, with flat prices averaging approximately £554,000. Terraced homes sell for about £1,200,601 on average, while semi-detached properties command around £1,973,591.
Despite residing in Wandsworth, Gordon does not operate any restaurants in the area. Instead, he previously managed a production kitchen on Wandsworth Road for his pub group, with his London restaurants situated in central and other locations. His latest venture involves establishing a new headquarters at 22 Bishopsgate, a 278-meter tall skyscraper housing five new Ramsay restaurants and bars, as well as the Gordon Ramsay Academy for cookery and mixology courses, marking his most extensive restaurant project yet, with a £20 million investment.
In a trailer for his Netflix show, Being Gordon Ramsay, he expressed his apprehension about the project’s success, hinting at retirement afterward. The pressure of launching five businesses under one roof weighed heavily on him, acknowledging the risks involved.
