Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have reportedly reached an agreement to face each other in an anticipated heavyweight boxing match, with key details now disclosed.
Earlier in December, reports surfaced indicating that the long-standing rivalry between the two fighters would be settled in the ring in 2026. However, following his victory over Jake Paul just after Christmas, Joshua was involved in a tragic car accident in Nigeria, resulting in the tragic deaths of his close friends Sina Ghami and Lateef ‘Latz’ Ayodele.
Despite concerns that Joshua’s boxing career might be over after the accident, the former two-time heavyweight champion is now back in light training, with discussions underway for a potential comeback this summer. There is speculation that Joshua could first face Dillian Whyte before setting up a showdown with Fury.
Boxing journalist Gareth A Davies has confirmed that both Fury and Joshua have agreed to the fight, with Davies stating on talkSPORT that the bout is officially signed and approved. He mentioned that the fight will likely be broadcast on Netflix and could occur either later this year or in the following year, with Joshua eyeing a return to the ring in June or July.
Fury’s return fight is scheduled to air on Netflix on April 11. The ‘Gypsy King’ previously announced his retirement from boxing last year but has since made a comeback. He is set to battle Russian knockout artist Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Netflix has become a significant player in boxing broadcasting, showcasing notable fights such as Paul vs Joshua, Alvarez vs Crawford, Taylor vs Serrano, and Paul vs Mike Tyson.
Joshua is gearing up to resume full training for a potential return to boxing later this year. Despite his recent challenges, including the car accident, his promoter Eddie Hearn remains optimistic about the possibility of a future clash between Fury and Joshua, possibly by the end of the year or early 2027.
