James Murray has shared the reasons behind his decision not to make a comeback on Coronation Street after appearing in just three episodes. During an interview with Alan Titchmarsh on Love Your Weekend, the actor disclosed that he had a brief stint on the ITV soap as Sandy the barman many years ago.
Reflecting on his experience, James mentioned that he portrayed Jack and Vera’s barman for a short period, describing it as a nerve-wracking encounter. He explained how the fast-paced nature of filming left little room for creative input from the actors, emphasizing the pressure of delivering lines quickly and efficiently.
Recalling a moment with Bill Tarmey, who played Jack, James recounted how his nervousness was noticed during a scene. Bill’s advice to either calm down or consider a different career path left a lasting impact on James, prompting him to explore other acting opportunities beyond the intense environment of soap operas.
Despite the challenging experience on Coronation Street, James has since pursued roles in various successful shows, including his recent portrayal of Raef Lonsdale in the BBC drama series Wild Cherry. Known for often playing villainous characters, James humorously attributed it to his eyebrows during his conversation with Alan Titchmarsh on Love Your Weekend.
Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh airs on Saturdays at 9:30 am on ITV. For the latest entertainment news, visit the Everything Gossip website.
