“Child Kidnapped, Assaulted: Offender Sentenced to 11 Years”

A menacing sexual offender who kidnapped a five-year-old girl from the street and subsequently sexually assaulted her has been sentenced to prison.

The young victim was confined in a lower-level room of a connected property by Mohammed Abdulraziq, aged 32, until the child’s mother heard her cries. The girl was rescued by two individuals who forcibly entered the premises.

Abdulraziq was convicted of false imprisonment with intent to commit a sexual offense, sexual assault, and assault after a trial at Birmingham Crown Court in September of the previous year. He had previously confessed to charges of assault, attempted assault, and criminal damage related to a separate incident. His sentence was 11 years.

During the afternoon of March 30, the girl was playing outside while her mother conversed with a neighbor living on the same street. When the child vanished from sight, her mother and a friend commenced a frantic search, checking a park and a nearby shop.

Upon returning to the street, the mother heard her daughter crying and identified the source within a house. As the front door was locked, she attempted to break a window to reach the room where her daughter and the perpetrator were located.

The mother’s friend partially entered through the window and witnessed Abdulraziq and the girl, with the offender in a state of undress.

Abdulraziq attacked the woman and shut the window when she attempted to intervene, leading to her falling back onto the street. The noise attracted the attention of two men who forced their way into the property.

The court also learned that Abdulraziq had consumed three cans of beer and smoked synthetic cannabis on the day of the incident.

During sentencing, Judge Kerry Malin remarked on the distressing nature of the crime, emphasizing the vulnerability of the young victim and the alarming behavior exhibited by Abdulraziq.

The judge highlighted the swift actions of the mother and her friend in realizing the danger and attempting to rescue the girl from the perpetrator’s grasp. Additionally, the impact of the traumatic event on the victim’s well-being was acknowledged.

Judge Malin extended Abdulraziq’s license by four years, citing the risk he posed to society, particularly to young children.

Detective Sergeant Nicky Simms of West Midlands Police commended the bravery displayed by the victim and her mother throughout the investigation, emphasizing the rarity of such incidents and the importance of holding offenders accountable.
