A male body was discovered in a trash bin prompting police to suspect he was struck by a vehicle and then relocated.
Authorities are urgently seeking public assistance following the discovery of the deceased individual, believed to be between 40 and 50 years old, in Cash’s Park near Daimler Road in Coventry around 5 p.m. on Friday.
The man was found in a Coventry City Council wheelie bin with a green lid, leading investigators to determine the origin of the bin. Police theorize that the man was potentially hit by a vehicle and subsequently transferred to the park.
Residents have been informed to expect a continued police presence at the scene as the inquiry progresses, as reported by CoventryLive. West Midlands Police stated, “We’re urgently appealing for information after a man was found dead in Coventry.”
The body was discovered by a passerby in Cash’s Park, and efforts are ongoing to identify the deceased individual and determine the circumstances of his death. Authorities are collaborating with the local council to ascertain the bin’s original location.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Poole, from West Midlands Police’s Major Crime Unit, stated, “We are keeping an open mind, but we believe that this man has been hit by a vehicle, and then has been moved to the park.”
He further added, “I urgently want to hear from anyone who believes they may have hit someone in their car yesterday, or who has noticed a change in behaviour from someone they know who drives, or who has noticed damage to a vehicle. It’s vital that we trace that person as quickly as possible so that we can get their account of what happened. If anyone in the area has found that their wheelie bin with a green lid has been stolen, I also want to hear from them.”
Individuals with relevant information or potential dashcam or CCTV footage from the area are encouraged to contact authorities at 101, quoting log 4148 of 13 March.
