“American Embassy in Baghdad Hit by Missile Attack”

An American embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, was targeted by a missile attack, resulting in visible smoke emerging from the premises. Security officials revealed that the missile struck a helipad within the embassy compound, causing damage to part of the building’s air defense system.

The incident took place in the Green Zone, a heavily fortified area in central Baghdad housing governmental institutions and foreign embassies. This attack prompted the embassy to issue a Level 4 security alert for Iraq, cautioning about potential threats from Iran and Iran-aligned groups known for targeting American citizens and infrastructure.

The sprawling US embassy complex, one of the largest diplomatic facilities globally, has been frequently subjected to rocket and drone attacks by Iran-aligned militias. These groups have escalated their assaults on bases hosting US and coalition troops, with a recent drone strike in northern Iraq resulting in the death of a French soldier and injuries to several others.

Simultaneously, the US conducted a significant bombing raid on Iran’s Kharg Island, described by President Trump as one of the most powerful in the region’s history. The attack, which reportedly targeted military installations, did not damage oil infrastructure on the island.

President Trump, via Truth Social, emphasized the strength of the US military and its capability to neutralize threats posed by Iran. He underscored his administration’s commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and reiterated warnings against any interference with the free passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

The US President’s message conveyed a firm stance on the military superiority of the US and the perceived inability of Iran to counter American military might. Trump urged Iran to disarm and suggested that the country’s military actions were futile against the US.

In response to the escalating tensions, Iran’s Fars news agency reported multiple explosions on Kharg Island but clarified that the oil infrastructure remained unharmed. This recent event underscores the volatile situation in the region and the ongoing geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran.
