BBC executives are reportedly evaluating three potential hosts to revamp the upcoming season of Strictly Come Dancing. The network has shortlisted seven candidates, with Alex Jones from The One Show emerging as a top contender. Other contenders to replace Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly include Zoe Ball, Rylan Clark, Alison Hammond, Angela Scanlon, Emma Willis, and Fleur East.
According to sources, the BBC highly favors Alex Jones for a hosting role, considering her a perfect fit to take over Tess’s position on the show. Discussions have also surfaced about introducing a third host to infuse new energy into the program.
No final decision is expected until summer, with a BBC spokesperson indicating that plans for Strictly Come Dancing in 2026 will be disclosed in due course.
The potential shake-up follows reports of several beloved cast members exiting the show, including professionals who will not be returning to the screen. Various incidents, such as controversies involving cast members, have sparked turmoil behind the scenes of the popular dance competition.
Michelle Tsiakkas, among those not returning, expressed disappointment after her sudden departure from the show. Other long-standing cast members facing exit include Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, Katya Jones, Karen Hauer, and Nadiya Bychkova.
