Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey, currently playing for Villarreal in Spain, is set to plead not guilty to two new rape allegations, according to court proceedings. The charges stem from an incident involving one individual in 2020, with the claims being reported to authorities in August 2025.
Despite his absence in court, Deputy Chief Magistrate Tan Ikram oversaw the initial phases of the case, where Partey’s legal representative, Emma Fenn, stated his intention to refute the accusations. Prosecutor Arabella MacDonald informed the court that the new charges date back to December 2020 and came to light following previous publicity surrounding Partey’s legal matters.
Previously, Partey appeared at Southwark Crown Court in September to contest five counts of rape against two women and a charge of sexual assault against a third, allegedly occurring between 2021 and 2022 during his time at Arsenal. The trial, presided over by a High Court judge, is scheduled for November 2 this year.
Partey, who spent five years at Arsenal before departing in June last year, where he subsequently signed a one-year deal with Villarreal, has played 24 matches for the Spanish team this season. He was granted bail with the condition of no contact with the alleged victim and is expected to attend the upcoming court session on April 10.
