Teenager Abandoned After Stolen Car Crash

A teenager was abandoned by companions after a car they were in, suspected of being stolen, flipped over, reported the police.

Authorities stated that a grey Skoda sedan was allegedly trying to force another vehicle off the road in Melbourne’s outer southwest during the early hours of Friday, March 13. The deceased was among the seven teenagers in the car. The rest of the group fled the scene.

Reportedly, a group in a Toyota sedan had parked at a shopping center in Tarneit, Melbourne, shortly after midnight on Friday. Police mentioned that the Toyota occupants felt threatened and intimidated by the Skoda’s occupants.

The occupants of the Skoda, believed to be seven teenagers aged between 14 and 17, were reportedly carrying a sword and a significant amount of alcohol.

Detective Inspector Craig McEvoy of Victoria Police mentioned that the Toyota driver left the shopping center cautiously, taking backstreets to evade the Skoda, which started tailing them at high speeds.

Both vehicles then accelerated significantly, reaching speeds exceeding 180km per hour, leading to a collision involving innocent parties. The Skoda allegedly attempted a dangerous maneuver that caused it to collide with other vehicles.

The collision involved a Ford sedan and a Ford Ranger, resulting in minor injuries to their occupants. One of the Skoda’s occupants, a 15-year-old boy, was ejected during the crash and succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene. Another passenger sustained two broken legs and was taken to the hospital.

Inspector McEvoy condemned the actions of those who fled the scene, leaving the fatally injured teenager behind. Two teenagers were arrested, one while trying to escape and another who presented at a hospital with family members. Three other teenagers who fled are still being sought by the authorities.

Describing the situation as terrible, Inspector McEvoy expressed uncertainty about who was driving the Skoda during the incident.

Allegedly, the Skoda had been stolen from a location 20 to 30 kilometers away from the scene between Wednesday and Thursday.
