Ricky Gervais’ partner, Jane Fallon, has recently received a breast cancer diagnosis. The accomplished author shared the news of her diagnosis, emphasizing that it was caught at an early stage without any noticeable symptoms.
Taking to social media to update her followers, she disclosed, “About a month ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer – luckily in its early stages, and the outlook is positive.” She recounted how a routine mammogram prior to the holiday season led to the detection of a concerning issue, prompting further examinations and ultimately a biopsy.
Detailing her medical journey, Jane mentioned multiple mammograms, biopsies, and an MRI to precisely locate the affected area. Despite the challenging process, she expressed gratitude for the exceptional care received and mentioned her upcoming surgery.
Jane, who has been in a relationship with Ricky since 1982, is not only a successful author but has also had a career in television production, including contributions to popular shows like EastEnders, Teachers, and This Life.
Reflecting on their early professional lives in a recent podcast, Jane recalled her determination to pave a path in TV production, which eventually bore fruit. She highlighted Ricky’s support during that period, emphasizing their shared journey towards success without feelings of envy.
While Ricky and Jane have been a couple for many years, they have opted not to marry, a decision they have openly discussed. Ricky previously noted that their commitment to each other and shared life experiences have surpassed the need for a formal ceremony.
