In honor of what would have been the late Queen Elizabeth’s 100th birthday, the Royal Collection Trust has collaborated with the renowned British fashion brand Burberry to create a special limited edition collection. The late Queen’s centenary falls on April 21, marking 100 years since her birth. To commemorate this occasion, a selection of four exclusive items has been launched, including a brooch featuring her cherished corgis, a luxurious silk scarf, a cashmere scarf, and one of Burberry’s iconic coats.
Burberry, known for its association with British style, was a favorite of Queen Elizabeth, particularly for her outdoor activities. The capsule collection draws inspiration from her well-known wardrobe, showcasing signature outerwear and Scottish-woven cashmere.
The collection offers four distinct pieces, starting with a gold-plated brooch shaped like a corgi adorned in an enamelled check coat, embellished with the iconic Burberry Knight motif on a freshwater pearl. Priced at £395, this accessory pays tribute to the late Queen’s affection for her corgis, of which she owned over 30 during her lifetime.
Furthermore, there are two scarves available: a specially designed check-patterned cashmere scarf in a new holly green color inspired by Queen Elizabeth II’s Old Stewart Tartan, priced at £435. The second scarf, crafted in Italy from silk twill, showcases hand-painted artwork depicting Balmoral Castle and a group of corgis, reflecting Burberry’s deep connection to the outdoors. This silk scarf, priced at £375, features a seasonal holly green Burberry Check design.
Completing the collection is a coat, a signature piece from Burberry. The belted design, expertly tailored in Yorkshire from lightweight cotton gabardine with contrasting yarns for a shimmering effect, features a newly created tartan lining. Priced at £2,190, this exceptional coat captures the essence of Burberry’s iconic style.
For those seeking a special keepsake to commemorate Queen Elizabeth’s centenary without overspending, the Royal Collection Trust offers a selection of china collectibles, including mugs, teacups, side plates, spoons, and a biscuit tin, all priced under £100 each.
The late Queen’s centenary will be celebrated through various events across the country leading up to April, with a significant exhibition set to open at Buckingham Palace. The exhibition, titled Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style, will feature approximately 200 items, half of which will be displayed for the first time, showcasing the late Queen’s fashion evolution across her lifetime.
Additionally, a new memorial will be unveiled in London’s St James’ Park, near the existing Queen Victoria statue at Buckingham Palace. The memorial will include a statue of Queen Elizabeth II, a Prince Philip Gate with a statue of Prince Philip, and a series of gardens and pathways, along with a unique transparent glass unity bridge.
Inspired by the tiara Queen Elizabeth wore on her wedding day to Prince Philip in 1947, the memorial bridge pays homage to the late Queen’s legacy. Queen Elizabeth II, born on April 21, 1926, was Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, passing away peacefully at Balmoral Castle on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96.
