“Iran Claims Responsibility for Oil Tanker Attacks”

Iran has taken responsibility for the fatal attacks on two oil tankers near the Iraqi coast, as per multiple news reports. The chief of Iraq’s ports company informed CNN that they had saved 38 crew members from two foreign oil tankers engulfed in flames in the Persian Gulf.

The tankers were targeted in Iraq’s territorial waters. Tragically, at least one person has lost their life. This incident occurred shortly after US President Donald Trump warned of severe consequences for any disruptions to oil flow through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical passage for about 20% of the world’s oil supply.

Reports suggest that the tankers were assaulted by Iranian vessels carrying explosives and were transporting Iraqi oil. Farhan Al-Fartousi, the head of Iraq’s General Company for Ports, mentioned that one crew member had died, 38 were rescued, and search operations for the missing individuals were ongoing.
