A father in Singapore claims that his three-year-old daughter accidentally burned her tongue after being given boiling water instead of cold water at a local McDonald’s. Ridhuan Muhammad, a retired Singaporean footballer, recounted the incident on Instagram, expressing shock at the mistake made by the McDonald’s worker.
Muhammad and his wife detailed how the McDonald’s employee poured the scalding water into their daughter’s insulated bottle, causing her to suffer burns on her tongue. The young girl had difficulty eating and drinking following the incident and was reportedly traumatized by the experience.
Despite taking responsibility for not double-checking the water temperature, Muhammad and his wife emphasized that they never intended to harm their child. They stressed the importance of thorough checks before giving food or drinks to their children, acknowledging that accidents can still occur.
The family shared their distress over the incident and criticized the McDonald’s employee for negligence. They believe that the situation could have been avoided if proper precautions had been taken at the restaurant.
McDonald’s responded to the incident by acknowledging the misunderstanding and expressing concern for the well-being of their customers. The company stated that they are reviewing their service procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future and have reached out to the family to offer support.
As a goodwill gesture, the Muhammad family received ten ‘Be our Guest’ cards from McDonald’s to redeem complimentary menu items.
