A fresh collection of 12 stamps is set for release by Royal Mail to commemorate the 25th anniversary of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. The primary set of eight stamps showcases a collage from the film trilogy, honoring iconic characters throughout the series.
Notable British actors portraying the featured characters include Orlando Bloom as Legolas, Ian McKellan as Gandalf, Dominic Monaghan as Merry, Billy Boyd as Pippin, and Christopher Lee as Saruman. These stamps also contain hidden messages visible under UV light, revealing Elvish writing in a circular pattern.
David Gold, Royal Mail’s Director of External Affairs & Policy, expressed enthusiasm about the release, mentioning, “The Lord of the Rings is renowned as one of the most iconic and cherished film series ever created. We are thrilled to mark its enduring popularity with this set of Special Stamps. Each design captures the grand storytelling, creativity, and imagination that have solidified Middle-earth as a beloved element of British and global culture. We are proud to deliver these captivating stamps to mailboxes across the nation.”
Additionally, four stamps featured in a miniature sheet pay tribute to four significant locations from the series, including The Shire, where Frodo embarks on his quest, and Mount Doom, where he must destroy the One Ring.
Rivendell, an Elven sanctuary, and the majestic Argonath, which signifies the northern boundary of Gondor, are also depicted on the stamps.

Tolkien’s revered novels, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, the six-film series from New Line Cinema directed by Peter Jackson has garnered a dedicated fan base, earning $6 billion at the global box office and receiving 17 Academy Awards, making it the most decorated series in cinema history.
Set in Middle-earth, the series commences as Frodo Baggins embarks on a perilous quest to rid the world of the fabled One Ring, leading to a thrilling adventure.
The stamps, along with various collectible items, are available for pre-order starting March 11 on www.royalmail.com/lordoftherings. A Presentation Pack containing all 12 stamps is priced at £21.30, with general sales beginning on March 20.
