“New Fire Breaks Out in Glasgow City Center”

A fire has broken out in a building in Glasgow this evening, following a recent blaze at a vape shop that destroyed a historic building in the city center.

Emergency service vehicles have gathered on a quiet street in the Tradeston area. The Scottish Fire and Rescue (SFRS) have confirmed their presence at Carnoustie Street, just south of the city center, according to Glasgow Live.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue mentioned that six firefighting units and specialized resources are on site after receiving reports of a building fire. Witness reports and images show multiple emergency vehicles, including fire engines, responding to the incident that began around 6:30 pm.

This incident follows a significant fire that engulfed a building at Glasgow Central Station recently, leading to partial collapse and closure of the station. Firefighters battled the flames for over 13 hours, starting from a vape shop on Union Street that quickly spread across four floors.

Architect Alan Dunlop, known for the station’s refurbishment in the 1990s, expressed concerns about potential damage to the station’s delicate glass roof due to the fire. First Minister John Swinney acknowledged the extensive damage and the expected disruptions for commuters and businesses in the city center, promising support for affected businesses.
