“Teenage Couple Dies from Suspected CO Poisoning at Holiday Park”

An inquest revealed that a teenage girl and her boyfriend tragically passed away due to suspected carbon monoxide poisoning at a holiday park. Cherish Bean, 15, and Ethan Slater, 17, were found deceased in a cabin at Little Eden Holiday Park near Bridlington in East Yorkshire on February 18. The inquest disclosed that both individuals were in good health during a family gathering the night before the incident.

According to Senior Coroner Professor Paul Marks, Cherish and Ethan moved to a smaller cabin named the “Mancave” around 9 pm to watch television. Cherish later returned to the main cabin with a headache and took Calpol since there was no paracetamol available. She then went back to the smaller lodge and sent a text to her mother before bedtime. Ethan also returned to the cabin around the same time.

Detective Chief Inspector Ben Robinson of Humberside Police mentioned that four individuals linked to the management of the holiday park were arrested on suspicion of gross negligence manslaughter but were later released on bail. He confirmed that carbon monoxide poisoning was likely the cause of the teenagers’ deaths, pending official confirmation by a forensic pathologist.

The investigation included a forensic evaluation of the cabin’s boiler and consultations with gas engineers, the Health and Safety Executive, and the National Crime Agency. The inquest was adjourned by Professor Marks pending the completion of the police inquiry.

In a heartbreaking statement, Cherish’s mother expressed profound grief over the loss of her daughter, emphasizing the devastating impact on their family. She recalled the cherished memories shared with her daughter and the profound loss they now face.
