A prominent delivery company that operated nationwide in the UK has closed down, resulting in disruptions to Evri shipments. Pedal and Post, which specialized in eco-friendly bike deliveries, has entered liquidation after ceasing operations in January following a long period of trading. The appointment of joint liquidators, Brett Lee Barton and Margaret Carter from BK Plus in Walsall, was confirmed through official records reflecting the typical process for failed businesses.
Based in Oxford with a presence in London, Pedal and Post distinguished itself by offering bicycle-based parcel delivery services to reduce vehicle emissions and traffic congestion. The sudden closure of Pedal and Post, a key partner of delivery giant Evri in Oxford’s clean air zone, caused temporary interruptions in service. The issue came to light when a resident of Grandpont, Oxford, Carol Leonard, reported missing parcels that were ordered in late January.
Despite efforts to rectify the situation, including refunds issued by the retailer and subsequent dispatch of goods by Evri, the closure of Pedal and Post led to the redundancy of 60 employees in Oxford and London. Christopher Benton, the company’s CEO and founder, attributed the closure to the loss of a major client earlier in the year. Expressing gratitude to supporters, Benton acknowledged the community’s backing throughout the company’s 14-year journey promoting sustainable cargo bike deliveries.
Evri expressed disappointment at the closure of its partner in Oxford, leading to temporary service disruptions. The company swiftly reorganized deliveries in the affected area to minimize inconvenience for customers.
