A woman’s body near a private members’ club in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire has triggered a murder investigation. A 44-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder in connection to the incident. The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed yet, was found near Phyllis Court Club on Phyllis Court Drive. Authorities from Thames Valley Police (TVP) responded to the scene following the discovery around 7.50 am on Friday.
Security measures have been implemented in the vicinity, including the closure of the club’s pavilion and the towpath across the venue. Rowers are advised to avoid the area as police presence increases to support ongoing detective work.
A temporary closure notice has been issued on the Phyllis Court Club’s website, stating that the clubhouse, Fitness Centre, and grounds are shut until further notice.
Detective Inspector Rob Underhill stated that while the investigation is still in its initial phase, an arrest has been made, and there is no active search for additional suspects. He assured the public of no imminent danger and emphasized the heightened police visibility for investigative purposes.
