“Check Eligibility Now: Deadline Approaching for Household Support Fund”

Britons are being encouraged to check their eligibility for financial aid from their local council before an approaching deadline. The Household Support Fund, set to be discontinued by the end of March, offers assistance to certain individuals struggling to cover essential expenses like bills and groceries. Allocation of this support varies by council, with each having the discretion to determine how it is distributed.

The Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) recently reminded the public about this fund through a social media post. Ofgem highlighted that individuals may qualify for help from the Government’s Household Support Fund by applying through their local council for financial assistance with essentials, including utility bills.

More information about the scheme can be accessed on the Government website, where it is explained that the Household Support Fund is aimed at helping individuals who are finding it challenging to afford necessities. It is emphasized that this assistance is not limited to those receiving benefits and may also include food vouchers for families during school breaks.

Although recipients of benefits will not be impacted by payments from the Household Support Fund, it is crucial to note that the fund is scheduled to end in March 2026. A new Crisis and Resilience Fund is set to replace it in April 2026, offering different types of support payments to aid individuals facing financial difficulties with bill payments and essential household expenses like food.
