Witnesses captured the moment drones were brought down near Dubai airport in a video that showed debris falling from the sky after air defense systems intercepted the drones. Initially, reports online suggested a blast near Dubai International Airport, but authorities later confirmed that the incident involved falling debris following a successful interception.
Aircraft bound for the airport, which is one of the world’s busiest for international travel, were observed circling at a distance just before the interception took place. Officials quickly contained the situation and assured that no injuries were reported.
A spokesperson for the Dubai Media Office stated, “Dubai authorities have confirmed that a minor incident resulting from the fall of debris after an interception has been successfully contained. No injuries have been reported. Authorities have also dispelled rumors circulating on social media regarding any incidents at Dubai International Airport.”
Emirates temporarily suspended all flights from the airport during the drone interception, advising passengers not to travel at that time. The airline expressed gratitude for customers’ understanding and patience, emphasizing that passenger and crew safety is their top priority and will not be compromised.
Despite the temporary suspension, flights resumed about an hour later as Emirates continued to monitor the situation closely. The airline assured customers that operational schedules would be adjusted accordingly to ensure passenger and crew safety remains paramount.
