“UK Braces for Eight Days of Snowfall & Freezing Temps”

Despite the current high temperatures in the UK, there are indications that freezing weather and snow may be on the horizon. Advanced weather forecasting maps suggest that snowfall could occur for eight consecutive days later this month, with major cities such as London likely to experience snowfall.

The forecast predicts that blizzards will commence on March 13, with pockets of snow expected in Scotland, northern England, and parts of the south-west. An Atlantic weather front is anticipated to arrive on March 14, bringing snow to Northern Ireland, southern Scotland, and northern England, while heavy rain is expected in the rest of England and Wales.

Further snowfall is projected for March 15, mainly in northern regions, with cities like Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Newcastle likely to see flurries around 6am. From March 16 to 17, light snow is forecasted over Scottish hills, with possible wintry showers affecting South Wales and the south-west of England around midday on March 17.

The snowfall is then expected to move eastwards, with maps indicating snow impacting southern England and London by 6am on March 18. On March 19 and 20, more snow is predicted to affect Northern Ireland, northern England, and Scotland, concluding the eight-day period of snowfall.

Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing during this period, with temperatures possibly reaching as low as -2C in northern England and Scotland on March 18. Daytime temperatures in southern England may struggle to rise above 4C. While the Met Office warns of wintry hazards later this month, it does not anticipate extremely cold conditions.

The Met Office’s forecast for March 19 to April 2 suggests unsettled weather conditions across the UK initially, with rain and strong winds affecting many areas. As March progresses, there is a possibility of slower-moving weather patterns, leading to increased wintry hazards in the north and northwest regions. Overall, temperatures are likely to be near average, with a chance of below-average temperatures towards the end of March. However, significant cold weather is not currently expected.
