UK Railway Supplier HIRD Enters Liquidation

An industry-leading UK railway company, HIRD Railway Services Limited, has officially entered liquidation as confirmed in a recent announcement in the London Gazette. The company, known for providing specialized track-related products and services to the UK railway sector, was placed under liquidation on February 27, 2026.

HIRD Railway Services, part of the HIRD group offering innovative infrastructure solutions to the UK rail sector, has transferred all assets and operations to voestalpine Turnout Technology UK Ltd. The company, founded in 1952 and family-run, operates from Clifford House in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, with Gareth Howarth and Philip Lawrence from AMS Business Recovery appointed as joint liquidators.

Unlike administration processes aimed at rescuing struggling companies, liquidation involves closing operations, settling debts with creditors, and disposing of assets. HIRD Railway Services emphasized sustainability in its operations, focusing on longevity and value for its clients through environmentally conscious practices and close collaboration with customers to meet evolving needs.

The company’s closure adds to a series of British businesses facing liquidation in recent times, reflecting challenges such as high energy costs and escalating material expenses. The Mirror has reached out to HIRD Railway Services for comments on the situation.
