“Etihad Airways Resumes Abu Dhabi-London Flights Amid Middle East Conflict”

Flights connecting Abu Dhabi and London’s Heathrow will recommence today courtesy of Etihad Airways. In various nations like Israel, Bahrain, and the UAE, the majority of flights have been canceled due to recent military actions between the US, Israel, and Iran, resulting in 7,766 cancellations. Many individuals, including Britons, are eagerly awaiting the resumption of airline operations to evacuate from the conflict-affected area.

Etihad Airways provided an update on their social media platforms stating that a limited flight schedule will resume from March 6, 2026, operating between Abu Dhabi and several key destinations. Passengers with existing bookings will be accommodated on these flights promptly.

The airline advised the public not to proceed to the airport unless directly contacted by Etihad or holding a confirmed booking on the new flights. The decision to resume flights was made in collaboration with relevant authorities after thorough safety and security assessments, with Etihad closely monitoring the situation to ensure all safety standards are met before resuming operations.

Amid the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, the Foreign Office has issued new guidance. Destinations such as Syria, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates are experiencing disruptions. The Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) continuously updates its list, including countries like Thailand, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates. Flights to and from Dubai, UAE, were suspended over the weekend, leaving British nationals stranded in the region.

Keir Starmer has reassured that the UK Government will assist in ensuring the safety of Britons abroad. The FCDO has identified 76 countries that Britons should avoid temporarily, citing conflicts in the region as a reason. Out of 226 countries or territories with foreign travel advice pages, 76 are currently designated as no-go areas.

The FCDO issued an evening update urging British nationals to adhere to the latest travel advice, including a new registration link for British citizens in Lebanon on the government website as of March 5.
