“UK Plans Special Flight for Britons Fleeing Oman Turmoil”

The UK government has revealed plans to organize a special flight for British citizens seeking to depart Oman in light of the current turmoil in the Middle East.

According to the Foreign Office, the flight is scheduled to leave Muscat, the capital of Oman, on Wednesday, March 4, at 7 pm. This service is open to British nationals, their spouses, and children under 18 who possess valid travel documentation.

Tensions in the Middle East escalated starting on February 28, when joint military strikes by Israel and the US targeted key Iranian locations. The strikes resulted in the death of Iran’s supreme leader at the time, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, with numerous casualties reported since then.

In response, Iran has conducted retaliatory strikes across the region, including in Oman, leading to heightened anxiety among residents.

The Foreign Office emphasized that priority will be given to individuals most at risk, and they will be reaching out to British citizens in Oman accordingly.

Individuals who previously registered in the United Arab Emirates and are now in Oman are advised to register for a spot on the upcoming flight. However, the Foreign Office cautioned against heading to Muscat International Airport without receiving official communication.

Non-British dependents must hold a valid visa or authorization for stays exceeding three months to be eligible for evacuation.

Furthermore, the Foreign Office is collaborating with airlines to establish additional evacuation routes for those affected.
