A tragic incident occurred as a 12-year-old student, Jada West, lost her life following a violent altercation with another classmate at a bus stop. The confrontation took place on March 5 after Jada was removed from the school bus and led to her sustaining brain injuries, ultimately leading to her passing away in the hospital days later.
Video footage circulated on social media captured the girls exchanging blows before Jada collapsed and required urgent medical attention. Jada’s mother, Rashunda McLendon, expressed disbelief at the loss of her only child and raised concerns about the presence of the other student at the scene, questioning why she was there when she allegedly didn’t reside in the area and didn’t usually disembark at that stop.
Rashunda revealed that Jada had recently started at Mason Creek Middle School and had been a victim of bullying during her time there. She recounted rushing to the bus stop upon being informed of the incident and finding her daughter lying motionless on the ground.
Following the initial medical response, Jada was transferred to Children’s Hospital Scottish Rite, where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. Expressing anger and a plea for love and understanding, Rashunda emphasized the importance of instilling love in children.
The circumstances leading to the altercation remain unclear, with conflicting accounts from both parties. While one side claimed Jada initiated the fight, Jada’s aunt, De’Quala McClendon, asserted that the girls were not acquainted before the incident, which allegedly began at the school and escalated onto the bus.
De’Quala took to social media to demand justice for her niece and shared footage of the altercation, highlighting Jada’s unfamiliarity with her opponent. Witnesses recounted the escalating tension and physical confrontation between the two students before the tragic outcome.
An investigation by the Villa Rica Police Department is currently ongoing to ascertain the details surrounding the fatal incident.
